These parameters set privileges for various roles (OC/SPC/SAB, etc.) with respect to certain activities:

  • Propose invited orals.
  • Reclassify (correct the classification of) abstracts submitted in response to the call for papers to ensure they are correctly scheduled in the conference programme.
  • Propose abstracts submitted in response to the call for papers for "promotion" to oral presentation.

Enabling these parameters usually prevents persons without the privileges to search, access, or modify database entries.

Enable Abstract Edit

Setting this parameter to "Yes" allows the persons with the abstract edit privilege to edit an abstract. This is only possible when the SPMS is in PC mode.

Enable PC Members to Propose Invited Orals

Set this parameter to "Yes" to allow the persons with the privilege entered into the screen

Overall Database Administration / Privileges, Roles & Users / Authorize

to create an abstract (proposal for invited oral), prior to switching abstract submission on via the parameter

Overall Database Administration / System Parameters / User / Accepting Abstracts

When this functionality is in enabled, the search feature is disabled for everybody else.

Enable PC Presentation

Set this parameter to "Yes" to allow the persons with the privilege "Propose Presentation Changes" entered into the screen

Overall Database Administration / Privileges, Roles & Users / Authorize

to propose a change in presentation type, i.e., usually from "poster" to "contributed oral".

Enable PC Reclassification

Set this parameter to "Yes" to allow the persons with the privilege "Propose Reclassification Changes" entered into the screen

Overall Database Administration / Privileges, Roles & Users / Authorize

to propose a change in classification, i.e., from one main classification to another, or from one main plus sub-classification to another. This functionality is used to ensure that all contributions to the conference programme fit into the correct classification and are thus grouped and presented according to topic.

Freeze User Updates to Classifications

Set this parameter to "Yes" when the persons with the privilege to re-classify abstracts begin this activity. It should remain set to "Yes" once the contributions have been accepted for presentation and ready for scheduling into the conference programme.

Freeze User Updates to Presentation Type

This parameter should be set to "Yes" when the persons with the privilege to modify the presentation type (usually a change from "poster" to "oral") begin this activity. This parameter should remain set to "Yes" to prevent users from modifying the presentation type decided by the privileged users.
