JACoW Team Meeting 2013
This year's JACoW Team Meeting will be held in Berkeley, California, US, hosted by the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory ("Berkeley Lab"). We will meet onsite at LBNL.
A JACoW TM 2013 SPMS Instance has been created.
An invitation-only meeting for JACoW software developers will begin at noon Sunday, December 8 and run through Monday, December 9. The Team Meeting proper will begin at approximately 0900 Tuesday, December 10 and end at noon Friday, December 13.
An optional excursion will be organized for Friday afternoon. It appears that only about half our delegates are staying for an excursion, and have a diversity of interests, so we will discuss ideas informally on Wednesday. We do not anticipate a single, common bus tour as in some recent TM's.
Jana Thomson is coordinating the technical program together with Cathy Eyberger and John Poole . The program for the developers' meeting is being coordinated by Ivan Andrian.
Local arrangements are being coordinated by Cathy "Sam" Vanecek . IMPORTANT NOTE: Compared to previous Team Meetings (and the earlier proposals for this meeting) the registration fee structure has been changed greatly. A small registration fee of $35 US will be prepaid by credit card (alternate forms of payment are possible) to cover the shuttle bus and office supplies. Food and drink throughout will be paid by each delegate individually, instead of being built into the registration fee as before. There will be no separate registration fee for those who attend only the Developers Meeting.
We have a block of rooms at the Hotel Shattuck Plaza in downtown Berkeley. It is easily accessible from SFO and OAK, the two major airports of the area, via the Bay Area Rapid Transit train system. A dedicated shuttle bus will bring us from the Hotel Shattuck Plaza in the morning and back down at the end of the day's business. LBNL also has a free shuttle bus that stops near the hotel in case you need to go between the two during the day. See more details under the Accommodation tab.
An alternate accommodation available to delegates is the on-site Berkeley Lab Guest House ($99/night).
Mid-December is a transitional time for Bay Area weather. Based on historical data from the Weather Underground website, the daytime high would be around 60 deg. F. and the overnight low around 40 F (about 11 and 6 deg. C, respectively), but could be a bit cooler. Occasional rain is quite possible in the course of a week-long stay, but snow and ice are unheard-of. As of this writing (Dec. 5) the long-range forecast calls for rain Friday the 6th, and a chance of rain as people arrive for the Developers Meeting on Saturday the 7th, but fair weather thereafter.
Team Meetings are organized for Team Members in line with the JACoW Terms of Reference and Boundary Conditions. In view of the extensive place in the program that will be reserved for SPMS, it will also be of interest to all conference organizers with responsibilities for IT setup, scientific programme management, proceedings production via JPSP scripts, registration, industrial exhibition organization, etc.
