This section covers activities that come under the responsibility of the SPMS administrator, conference editor, and/or conference webmaster (for data that are forwarded to the conference website, such as paper status, list of participants, etc.).

SPMS was originally designed as a tool to manage the scientific programme of accelerator conferences. The administrator was thus usually the person who ran the scientific secretariat and was involved in producing the proceedings. As SPMS was further developed to include tools for managing registration, etc., and as access to different areas of the database became more refined, the role of "administrator" can be separated from the roles of editor-in-chief or registration manager, for example, but there continues to be a certain amount of overlap.
