What does a JACoW editor do?A JACoW editor checks and corrects papers so they conform to the required templates, layout, and publishing constraints, without changing scientific meaning. Editors also help enforce consistent reference formatting, figure/table presentation, and submission completeness. As author liaisons, editors help resolve red dot issues, working one-on-one when necessary. What corrections I should look for first? For more details on order of editorial priorities, take a look at our example workflows. For formatting, prioritize:

What is the CatScan tool and when should I use it?CatScan checks DOCX and LaTeX files for common formatting errors and deviations from the template requirements. It is especially recommended for Word-based submissions and is also useful for editors as a quick formatting diagnostic. What fonts are allowed, and where do font problems usually hide?Allowed fonts are Times/Times New Roman and Symbol (Word guidance also lists Zapf Dingbats). Problems often hide inside figures (non-approved fonts, not embedded) and in pasted content that brings in other fonts. What should be checked for references and citations?References are numbered and listed under “References” at the end of each paper. Check for completeness and accuracy -- you might find references are missing information or, worst-case scenario, altogether missing. Check for DOIs; this is key for indexing with larger search engines. DOIs go on a separate line (CTRL + enter to start a new line without breaking formatting for line spacing). How do I validate citations to other JACoW papers?Use the JACoW Reference Search Tool to generate correct citations for JACoW publications, formatted for Word or LaTeX pasting. When should I send a paper back to the author for correction?Take a look at our example work flow. Send a paper back when issues prevent processing or compliance, including:
